It's a pay for what you get type of store when it comes to sushi. Sure you will get big portions but you sacrifice quality. Great for people who are on a budget and want to fill their stomachs up.
Food is decent. Rice on sushi is too much really if you ask me. Plus service isn't very nice. The older lady at the cash register is a Grinch. She's not very welcoming and she takes suggestions very negatively. They are lucky no sushi place is around that area.
Covid made samurai even better
Super good sushi first time for take out here! Only downfall is that it is cash only and I didn’t know prior to coming in... especially with covid-19 I don’t carry cash on me. Other than that the service was quick and friendly!
Good sushi, Good prices and quick
Every time I come to Vancouver it is not a complete visit until I go to Samurai Sushi. I have been coming here with my family for over a decade and a half now. I live in Toronto and thinking about how I can’t eat here regularly makes me sad. Please do yourself a favour and eat here!
Very generous portions. Good value. Quality of sushi isn't the best but the quantity more than makes up for it.
Some of the best value sushi in the city! Massive servings, great prices. Of course, this comes at the tradeoff of quality, but even low-grade Vancouver sushi is better than sushi in most places. Can't complain for what you pay!
Yeah, this place is dope. The combo with the house roll (Maki combo 2?) gives you a ton of food for a very fair price. This house roll is the best I've ever tasted, with so many flavours, but you've got your work cut of you trying to eat it (it's absolutely ginormous!). I suggest takeout both because seating is limited and because you're going to look like an idiot trying to fit that thing in your mouth in public (this is from experience). Have fun and enjoy!
Free tea. Tasty hamachi and uni. Prices are a little high for the decor but constantly busy.
Amazing, cheap and huge portions. Get it while you can !
This is a place where people who don't know what good sushi taste. The nigiri was grotesque, and tuna was too thick, and was too cold. Salmon nigiri was okay but the best was probably the SSSR roll because it was smoked salmon. I will never go back!
Samurai Sushi might be the best budget sushi place in town! You get massive portions for a fairly decent price! Sushi isn't the best, but it's decent and consistent. Great for take out, but the seating area is tiny. Free tea is provided, and it's cash only.
Love this place so much. Such a great deal and very large rolls! Very tasty too. Better for take out as the seating area is very limited.
Great value for the amount of sushi they offer! We went there for early dinner. Extremely busy but our food came fast. Big giant sushi rolls with fresh ingredients! Love it 😍
Nice Sushi with reasonable price
Been coming to this location for over a decade now. The sushi is consistent and portion sizes are large. Cheap, fresh sushi. I always order pick up and they never failed to miss anything in my order. The place is small and squishy when you have numerous amounts of people waiting to pick up. I do not recommend eating here. Call ahead for 5 or 10% discounts.
They do not take debit or credit card. The waitress did not even bother to say anything further and just left us while we were trying to order. We stood there for a few minutes and had to just leave. Terrible service.
Largest sushi you’ve ever seen for a great price. Fish is always fresh and huge! Their nigiri is the size of 2 from any other sushi place. I always get toro nigiri, bc roll, and yam roll. Bring scissors if you have a small mouth.
A non-authentic Japanese sushi place with bad experience: first, the salmon, tuna and ebi (shrimps) were not fresh, the rice was uncooked, the roll fell apart easily (couldn’t be picked up by chopsticks). The staff were super rude, especially the cashier! She rolled her eyes on me (even after I paid with 15% tips). You could not really have a choice of rolls from the combination (they already set it for you; it was Alaska today). It is Cash Only! The only positive thing I would say about this place is that they offered you self-served hot tea for a rainy day!! I would definitely NOT come back again!!! I am surprised how they got more than 4 stars on Google reviews! Maybe that’s why they got much lower Yelp reviews!
Very good sushi for a great price. Great miso.Small venue seating about 9 total and doing a thriving take-out business.
Good value for sure. Busy during weekends. Order a day before to receive 10% discount.
We like it a lot. Best sushi. Great value. It's right by our doctor's office. Plan to come back whenever we have a doctor appointment.
Absolutely disgusting! Today, I ordered take out for 2 spicy chopped scallops rolls and one California roll for my friend and I. I lost my appetite when I found more than 5 grey hairs on my sushi rolls. The sushis were really big and clumped together. The rice was sticking onto the takeout plates. The avocado is not fresh. My friend had to spit out the avocado out! I AM ABSOLUTELY NOT COMING BACK AND VERY DISAPPOINTED!
So very rare to review right away but hands down best value in Vancouver for sushi sashimi Japanese fare. It's not your trendy type place but they break the CFG matrix. It's cheap, fast and good on the west side. The portions are massive, and I was surprised it wasn't just ok in taste. I will be back again.
People often describe this place as cheap but I would describe it as inexpensive. Their quality is very good and their service is to the point. The food is always fresh and the portions are huge - as many have said.Recommend ordering at least 1hr early to get a small cash discount.
My favourite sushi place. Where will they move to when the construction begins?!
Cheapest sushi in the area! Staff are generally unfriendly but easily overlooked with the enormous-sized sushi. Food is super fresh because of the sheer volume they do.
Went to Samurai Sushi House for lunch it was very tasty. Quality was very nice and the price was great
Consistent and delicious. Been coming here for 5+ years and have never been disapointed.
Good enough sushi if you understand you are ordering cheap sushi from a mostly take it sushi place. I ended up taking home a quarter of my appetizer sashimi (tuna and salmon) and BC roll. Not a full service restaurant, but they will run the sushi over to you if you do eat in. Nice, friendly service overall. We came around sunset, so sun was shining into the eyes of people who sat facing the outside. This mostly affects the windows bar tables and one table for two in the middle of the dining area (where we sat, my companion had to switch sides of the table). There's still one table for two against the wall and sushi counter seats that are not affected.
Can never go wrong with the party tray sushi Enormous sushi size, and fairly affordable! Best place to go for hungry men who crave for beyond average food!
Their House Roll is huge and delicious as always. Ordered by phone & it's ready in 20 minutes.Love the crab inside, somehow it's creamier than other sushi I've had, but still refreshing.
This place gives great value if quantity is what you’re looking for over quality. Not to say that the quality is bad, but not the most tasteful sushi I’ve had. The rolls are massive and very fairly priced. They only accept cash, which is not really convenient. Value is important to me so when I’m in the area and looking for a meal, I would stop by for a quick pickup.
This has been a popular go to place for sushi at affordable prices in Vancouver for well over 20+ years. A small establishment with minimal seating - 2 tables out front with bar stool seating by the window. Some bar seats by the chefs as well. Most people that come here order take out. There is hot tea if you wish to dine in or wait in line. There is parking around the back or on the street out front. Good portion sizes and quality has been consistent over the years. They have party trays / combo dishes or you can order a la cart. Good value for the amount of food you get. You can phone in for take out orders. There is usually a bit of a lineup (during lunch and dinner hours) but it moves efficiently and your food is ready quite quickly (approx 5-15min) from time you order.
A small place but very popular
Cash only unlike the one on Fraser st. Overally good sushi but I prefer to go different location of samurai b/c they use better taste of seaweed.
Delicious affordable sushi with huge portions. Be careful on how much you order as you can easily over order with their enormous portions. Very few seats and table in the restaurant, as most people order for takeout.
The best sushi ever ,affordable and delicious👏🏼👏🏼💯💯 must try and recommend guys
Going to sheets. Was awesome for many years before. Now that they're going to disappear due to the restructuring of the Oakridge area as a result of the massive development project it seems this Vietnamese family no longer cares about this location and likely will not relocate in the future.
My absolute favorite sushi restaurant. It's in my neighborhood, the portion to value is amazing, and the food quality is decent. This is the only place I keep coming back to during this pandemic. I don't want this place to close shop.
Excellent portion size for price and quality.
It was my first time and ordered one of the tray which was huge and delicious for a fair price. I'll be back again!
Best place for sushi.. .good size portions not a very long wait time....more frequent I go they remember my order ....yummy..best location is next to oakridge shopping center.
Like the comfort of all comfort sushi. A lot and always well made and fresh. Service is like a Seinfeld episode. Incredible value.
Great portions great price. 80% the calibre flavour wise as other places but it's also 50% of the price.
I’ve been here several times in the past and it was always decent, considering the below average price point. My last experience however was awful. Everything tasted old, slimy, or overcooked. I couldn’t stomach the food, so I practically threw half of it away. Save your health and happiness, and spend a few extra bucks somewhere else. Very dissatisfied.
Where else can you go for extremely large pieces of sushi? Prices have gone up a bit a few months ago and quality is a little bit down but nevertheless if you're looking for something quick and fast to eat, go to Samurai. They also have a location on Fraser st (close to E48th). Order in advance and you'll get a discount.
Best value sushi place ... Been coming here for at least 15 years now
Big portions and reasonable price
